Ericsson India has paved the way for 5G Technology in India in accordance with Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

Ericsson India disclosed that the initiative was to create advanced LTE Technologies in India and to establish 5G ecosystems in the Indian Continent.

Nokia recently declared the development of 5G Technologies in India with other major telecom operators like Bharati Airtel and BSNL. Ericsson turned out to be a bit slow in the announcement of 4G as well as 5G  technologies in India.

IIT New Delhi has been assigned the task to conduct research and go through the development phase of the 5G Technologies. This will lead to the introduction of efficient technologies in India.

The first tests will be held in the later half of 2017 and the final instalments will be done in mid-2018. 5G is expected to arrive in India by late 2018. However, regular commercial availability of the network might only be available by 2020.

“The programme will focus on delivering research, innovation and industrial pilots that use next-generation 5G networks as an enabler. It will help initiate cross-industry research collaborations focused on the integration of ICT in industry processes, products and services,” Paolo Colella, Head of Region India at Ericsson, said in a statement.

Ericsson as proved out to be very efficient in terms of telecom networks globally and is going to provide fast networking capabilities throughout India.
